Correctional Medicine Associates, P.C. (CMA) is a physician-owned professional corporation that hires, supports and monitors licensed independent medical and mental health providers for many CCA facilities. Corrections Corporation of America (CCA) is the owner and/or operator of dozens of jails, prisons, and re-entry facilities throughout the United States. Many of the facilities need licensed medical, dental, and mental health professional services and that’s where CMA comes into play. Our sister organization, Correctional Dental Associates, does the same for our dental colleagues. Our payroll and benefits packages are provided/managed by LBMC Partners.
CMA operates in CCA facilities. The policies and procedures of both organizations are followed by all of our providers. The health services administrator (HSA) of the facility is the administrative supervisor. They are responsible for provider’s schedules, patient access, and working environment, including personnel issues such as time off requests. etc. The regional medical director (RMD) for each facility is the clinical supervisor of all our medical providers. The RMD is responsible for utilization management, clinical questions, and consultation.
